Friends, before discussing the translation of essays about Linux to Hebrew, there are still "experienced security experts" who are quoted in the Israeli newspapers, that attack Linux for being...
..surprise!.... ..insecure, with back doors, and even pirate! (I can't understand HOW a Linux installation CAN be pirate... There are hundreds thousands of pirate MS software packages in Israel, and even not ONE pirate Linux... Not to mention back doors, a claim that shows that the expert understood the Open Source exactly the opposite of its real meaning). All of this, "contrary" to MS software... I hear you saying "impossible!", "April 1 passed a long time ago", "what is he talking about", "nobody is so silly to say such claims", or "he confused between the OS'es, the exact opposite is the truth". So in order to believe, go to the middle of http://bokertov.net/15-8-2002/news.htm and find there anything you've never heard about Linux. And just some notes: ==================== 1. The funny claims were not said by the editor, but by the "experienced security expert" that is quoted there (his name is kept. I will not re-publish it here, because of Lashon-HaRa reasons...). 2. If you comment, do it in Hebrew; English comments are ignored. 3. Be polite (for example, this "expert" started his e-mail by: "HaKatava Meula UBaMakom". 4. Don't be ideological, but practical. Linux has so many practical reasons, so I don't understand why we hide them. 5. Use facts; Tell them how many holes were found in MS products in IDF, and how many units adopted Linux in the last year, where security was a key issue. You "can" omit numbers of units etc., but you still have a lot to tell them. 6. Be aware that no matter what you will write, it will be edited, and complete lines will be removed. So do it "katzar and Kolea". -- Eli Marmor [EMAIL PROTECTED] CTO, Founder Netmask (El-Mar) Internet Technologies Ltd. __________________________________________________________ Tel.: +972-9-766-1020 8 Yad-Harutzim St. Fax.: +972-9-766-1314 P.O.B. 7004 Mobile: +972-50-23-7338 Kfar-Saba 44641, Israel ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
