You can burn an "updates" CD. It is faster than downloading the same
updates for each machine separately.

However an internet connection is a great help to look for help. And there
will be problematic systems. Keep in mind that people will bring you
systems that they are unable to install themselves, so the avarage system
there may be more problematic than the "typical system".

(And there will be enough systems, so there will be enough problematic
ones)
