The company did NOT create a cocktail for AIDS. It created some six or seven of them, possibly more. Of these, three failed very early - internally, costing no more than one to three million each. Two failed late, costing no more than a few tens of millions each. One failed very late, possibly as late as stage three of FDA - costing more than a hundred million to fail. One succeeded, soting again a hundred million. Now, if the company does NOT recoup within a reasonable timeframe (and no - tens of years IS NOT reasonable, because the company has to feed researchers with new stuff to research), it will NOT do this the second time around. So - you have a nice AIDS cocktail which is now public domain but no AIDS vaccine. BAD.
