Sorry Hetz that I have to disagree with you publically, but I stand
behind everything I wrote. Unfortunately, the list of UNIX projects of
Microsoft is so long, and I don't have the time to open a discussion
about each of them, so just recheck the facts. For example, it is well
known that MSIE for Solaris and HP is based on Mainsoft. I tried it, if
you are interested. And I'm in touch with the staff of Mainsoft. And I
remember the RFP of Microsoft: First, Bristol Technology won it, so
Applicom had to "remove" Mainsoft from their value, but after a year,
Bristol didn't succeed to port IE to Solaris/HP, so Microsoft reopned
the RFP and Mainsoft won.

Also please check if some (true) facts that you mention, really conflict
with the facts that I mentioned (for example, regarding Corel).

Regarding drivers, not only that Microsoft doesn't "fight" them, they
even provide them for downloading from their site. Maybe they hired
another company to develop them, but it's still a work of Microsoft,
whether it was done by their employees or by their sub-contractors.

And regarding the quality and should they be trusted or not, it's not
the issue of this discussion. My point is only that there are hundreds
UNIX persons at Microsoft, probably more than any other UNIX software
company. Or at least one of the "leading 5".

I also didn't say anything about patenting, prices, bloating, layers,
etc. Intentionally, I didn't enter into childish questions like whether
they are "good" or "bad". Just "size" of the UNIX development in MS.
And it's huge. Believe me.
