A discussion in the Knesset regarding Oepn Source and security. Clue level is not up in that discussion, aparently. Some of the people seem to think the "Open Source is [magically] secure" You've gotta love this quote (translated by me): Using "Open" (Open Source) software products, for which the vendor will provide all the necessary information for through audit by the IDF for lacating holes and fixing them. The problem with this approach is the high investement it takes examining the products and adapting them to the required software applications. And here comes the good part: Therefore the Open Source approach is mainly used in cases of critical operational information systems Note, however, that the general theme was that it is cheaper to "secure" MS-products [by anti-viruses, firewalls, etc.] than to use alternatives. -- Tzafrir Cohen mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.technion.ac.il/~tzafrir ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
