I haven't played with such a machine for quite a long time (back from the ISDN 
Net days where we had an Alpha to convert audio/video to MS format)..

The machine that you got can install only NT 4 (or 3.51 - don't remember 
exactly which) and not OSF/1..

You'll need to google a bit and find some hack to install Linux on it. Maybe 
SuSE 7.x can work on it. There's also a new Red Hat 7.2 for Alpha which came 
out this week - so you can try those ISO's too...
