Note that to have the kernel recover an ext3 parition using the journal 
(rather than fsck), you'll need either ext3 compiled statically into the 
kernel, or the ext3 modules in your initrd file. mkinitrd seems to do 
the latter automatically, but make sure your lilo.conf (or whatever) 
loads the initrd file.
