Does anybody know of any function/syscall, similar to Linux' prctl(), but for other UNIX platforms (e.g. Solaris, HP-UX)?
prctl() allows its caller to receive a signal when its parent is killed (SIGCHLD is sent when the CHILD is killed, and prctl() was inteded for the opposite case). I want a child to be informed when its parent is killed (by SIGKILL, for example) so the child can do some cleanups, and exit.
