I got a remote with a Miro PCTV card (the whole bundle was ~$80, I guess a remote alone would be only a few $). When I bought it, I tried for a few days to make it work, with no success. I forgot it for a few months, then tried again, and it worked immediately. I couldn't even recall what the problem was, but I think I then understood from the docs that the regular serial driver should not control that port, which was wrong (or something like that). The only thing to be aware of, is that what you want is *not* irda (common in laptops as a cheap "wireless network"), but a package called lirc (google). I believe enything that connects through the serial port will work with it, but of course you better check lirc docs before buying. > > As always laziness is winning and I'm looking for a > remote to use for Volume, Forward Rewind etc. for my > DVD / MP Player. > > Thanks > > Erez > > > __________________________________________________ > Do You Yahoo!? > Yahoo!
