I thought the R in IRC stood for "relay" (Internet Relay Chat), meaning that all IRC servers in the world could be connected together to provide the chatters a consistent channel namespace and the ability to chat with one another regardless of which server they are connected to. Why are there seperate, unconnected, IRC "networks"? When I was using IRC about 10 years ago, I would just connect to the Technion's IRC server without having to think to which "network" I should connect to. When has that changed, and why? What's the downside of connecting all these seperate IRC networks together? -- Nadav Har'El | Thursday, Apr 25 2002, 13 Iyyar 5762 [EMAIL PROTECTED] |----------------------------------------- Phone: +972-53-245868, ICQ 13349191 |I used to work in a pickle factory, until http://nadav.harel.org.il |I got canned. ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
