150 MB? I already have in the order of 500 MB in my Redhat 7.2 updates
directory :(
Of course, doing these updates is fully automatic for me (with good use
of rsync - you might, for example, want to anonymous rsync the updates
directories in iglu.org.il, or another local mirror), and Redhat usually
(but not always, they botch up sometimes :( ) makes sure that these
updates all apply cleanly. You can't say the same about some random RPMs
you get off the net, like KDE 3 or Ximian Gnome or something like that.

I guess that if it was a really important patch. they'd release an update.
Most people (and even I) can live with programs with a maximum age of 6
months without needing to upgrading them every week. This saves *a lot*
of time (I know, because I used to compile nearly every free software
in the world on both Sun and Alpha machines, and to took up quite a bit
of time and effort to keep current).

I even know people who are still using the unpatched Redhat 6.2 system,
and don't bother to upgrade. I run a system with a (heavily patched for
security) Redhat 5.2 (!!) system. Not everybody feels the need to upgrade
to the bleeding edge all the time. Most people can wait another month
to get KDE 3 from Redhat 7.3 (if that's what it will be called), for example.
