Hi all,

Though I am an enthusiast on Linux (I am using RH 7.2) I wasn’t able to fully become a Linux desktop user.

The solution I fond was to use an X server on my Win2000 (I use Exceed 6.2), work with XDMCP, and get both Linux and Windows desktops.

Since my main desktop is the Windows, I would like it to be in the front, and just have the Linux “Task bar” to execute whatever I want. To do so I need to configure a transparent background of the Linux desktop.

When working with gnome I was able to do it and it worked fine for me, but unfortunately after a while using gnome I found out it is not stable enough and decided to move to KDE, which is much better for me.

Only problem is – I couldn’t find any way to do the same (transparent background) on KDE.

I use both KDE and gnome out of the standard RH 7.2 installation.

TIA,

shushu
