I run RH7.2 with all available upgrades on a Sony Vaio PCG-F630 (config is 192Mb RAM, DVD/CD reader, 12GB HD). It has worked since 6.2, however, the sound card works only since 7.0 or 7.1, and apm only since the latest kernel update from RH (2.4.9-31). PCMCIA works well ever since I tried; the modem is HCF and does not yet work on stock kernels. Apparently the drivers were just released by Connextant, as, I believe, was recently announced on list. I am not sure if display accelerator works, however, I use the stock SVGA driver for X. ONE THING YOU MUST LOOK OUT FOR: my disply didn't work correctly until I tried the LILO option of vga=791. Only under that option does X work properly. Otherwise I either had lots of flicker with eventual locking of the screen, or a squashed, little screen, occupying half the space it should. Now my turn to ask for help: I am not sure if the firewire port is supported. Below is an excerpt of lspci -v, tell me, is it supported? How do I find out? ####### Excerpt of lspci -v ########### 00:0a.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCI1420 Subsystem: Sony Corporation: Unknown device 80ad Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 168, IRQ 9 Memory at 10000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K] Bus: primary=00, secondary=02, subordinate=05, sec-latency=176 Memory window 0: 10400000-107ff000 (prefetchable) Memory window 1: 10800000-10bff000 I/O window 0: 00004000-000040ff I/O window 1: 00004400-000044ff 16-bit legacy interface ports at 0001 00:0a.1 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCI1420 Subsystem: Sony Corporation: Unknown device 80ad Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 168, IRQ 9 Memory at 10001000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=4K] Bus: primary=00, secondary=06, subordinate=09, sec-latency=176 Memory window 0: 10c00000-10fff000 (prefetchable) Memory window 1: 11000000-113ff000 I/O window 0: 00004800-000048ff I/O window 1: 00004c00-00004cff 16-bit legacy interface ports at 0001 <snip> 00:0e.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Texas Instruments: Unknown device 8020 (prog-if 10 [OHCI]) Subsystem: Sony Corporation: Unknown device 80ac Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 9 Memory at fb006000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=2K] Memory at fb000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16K] Capabilities: [44] Power Management version 1 ############# end of output of lspci -v ############# Arie Folger ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
