Well, it was a typo on my side.
It is -configure indeed, but it still didn't do the trick.
A guess only 4.2.0 knows how to build a correct config file. 4.1.0 get
confuses and doesn't set it up very well.

The option is either to edit the file manually, or to upgrade Xfree..
