The MDK installation is great, but for some reason, at least in 7.2, 8.0 and 8.1, the upgrade has always caused me problems - loss of personalized settings in many programs, loss of sound, unrecognized hardware (that worked OK before), etc. On one occasion (I think it was 8.0) I ended up deleting everything and re-intalling - lucky I had backups and was able to later restore most of my personal stuff :-). But this is just too much of a hassle. So my question is, does it make sense to just update RPMs individually from the 8.2 CDs on my 8.1 system rather than doing a **re-install** or **update**? With the exception of the kernel, this should work, but I'd like to hear opinions. BTW - I never got Mandrake Update to work properly. Since I have an ADSL connection, this might have been a good choice. //------------------------- Shlomo Solomon E-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://come.to/shlomo.solomon Date: 31-Mar-2002 Time: 08:34:57 Message sent by XFMail on a LINUX Mandrake 8.1 machine //------------------------- ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
