I am using Mozilla 0.9.7 with jvm from blackdown: ~$ java -version java version "1.3.1" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build Blackdown-1.3.1-FCS) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build Blackdown-1.3.1-FCS, mixed mode) I am completely satisfied with it, and certain problems I had with sun's jvm disappeared. Anyway, the Kaffe jvm is only 1.1, which is a way anachronistic. What you need is to fetch the jdk or jre (depending if you develop java or not), from the urls (swiss mirror) ftp://sunsite.cnlab-switch.ch/mirror/java-linux/JDK-1.3.1/i386/FCS/README-j2sdk ftp://sunsite.cnlab-switch.ch/mirror/java-linux/JDK-1.3.1/i386/FCS/j2sdk-1.3.1-FCS-linux-i386.tar.bz2 ftp://sunsite.cnlab-switch.ch/mirror/java-linux/JDK-1.3.1/i386/FCS/README-j2re ftp://sunsite.cnlab-switch.ch/mirror/java-linux/JDK-1.3.1/i386/FCS/j2re-1.3.1-FCS-linux-i386.tar.bz2 to bsunzip2 the tar, and symlink .../jre/plugin/i386/mozilla/javaplugin_oji.so into the directory /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins (assuming mozilla is installed from the rpm). I have been using java on linux quite often, and find no problems so far with this jvm. -- Dr. Zvi Har'El mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Department of Mathematics tel:+972-54-227607 Technion - Israel Institute of Technology fax:+972-4-8324654 http://www.math.technion.ac.il/~rl/ Haifa 32000, ISRAEL "If you can't say somethin' nice, don't say nothin' at all." -- Thumper (1942) Thursday, 18 Shevat 5762, 31 January 2002, 3:35PM ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
