I have a problem with Java in Konqueror - the applets are just grey rectangles. According to the www.Konqueror.org FAQ:
Java Applets only show up as grey rectangles, what's wrong? Most like you are using Sun's 1.3 JRE. There is a know problem that prevents KJAS from working with that version of Java. Please use Blackdown's 1.3 release, IBM's 1.3 release, or Sun's 1.2.2 release. Each of those is known to work. Hopefully this issue will be resolved in a 1.3.1 release from Sun. I checked and here's what I found: [root@shlomo1 root]# java -version Kaffe Virtual Machine Copyright (c) 1996-2000 Transvirtual Technologies, Inc. All rights reserved Engine: Just-in-time v3 Version: 1.0.6 Java Version: 1.1 This **may** be the problem since it's only version 1.1 - BTW, this Java virtual machine is the default on MDK8.1. Java **does** work in Netscape, Mozilla, and Galeon. I don't mind upgrading Java to one of the suggested versions, but before I do, I want to be pretty sure that solving the Konqueror Java problem won't break the existing Java support in three other browsers. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has Java working in Konqueror and other browsers - and I'd especially like to hear recommendations about which version to use. I'm running Konq 2.2.1 on KDE 2.2.1 on MDK 8.1.
