I'vew since looked at their web site and found out:

1. The $100 is a "membership" fee not a license fee. 
2. You have to sign an NDA, "just as any Lindows.com employee would".

This rings lots of alarum bells to me.

First, I can't see sending them any money to be an ALPHA tester of their
        code. 

Second, It's amembership fee because they can't charge a license fee. 
        Fancy wording to get around something that they can't do because
        it is wrong.

Third,  I have no desire to establish an employer/employee relationship
        with lindows.com. 

In plain English, it stinks. :-)
