Donno about theories,

But back then when Michael Robertson was the CEO of MP3.com BEFORE it came
very well known (thanks to their subscription service where you can access
your music everywhere with their pretty briliant ripper) I had a phone phone
conversations with him...

My impression is that this is a serious businessman and so far no one has
been cheated by them - I bought several CD's from MP3.COM - all of them
arrived with the music (some trance music) and the CD's included the same
files as MP3 files which I think is nice...

Now - for you and other who wants some theories...

Back in september - the plan of Lindows was to sell "Lindows Office" which
was a re-branded version of Hancom Office (this is not a rumor - I have
tested those RPMS myself last week ago thanks to a contact person) + some
other re-branded applications - since then, Lindows ditched it entirely.

Now - my "educated" guess that there was a group of people NOT related to
Lindows that hacked Wine and either wanted to sell it fast or make money fast
- so they approached Lindows and sold it to them for unknown amount of money
- my guess is as good as anyone on this list...

Someone (another source) approached me with another screenshot that I cannot
publish - showing Word and explorer running and a "ps aux" list of processes
inside konsole - only noteable thing I saw there was running wine &
wineserver (although few of them together)...

I'm sure that as much as many people (myself included) who wait for this
version of Lindows (and god only knows why they're not selling the wine
version alone without a full distribution), the people at MS are also waiting
to see if and how many patents they violated - or as some wine developer told
me "Hetz, it's not that hard to implement the missing stuff - it's the
patents that MS issued which you need to workaround each of them - and they
are very generic and a lot"...

We'll have to wait & see (if I'm not mistaken - 2 weeks until the preview
0.90 release).

Cheers,
sleepy Hetz ;)
