Hi Cedar, I had problems like you described when I installed my adsl 6 months ago. It seems to me that you have a pure line quality, though there can be many other problems. Disconnections like you describe usually have to do with pure line quality. What you need to do, is to call 166 and ask for a technician to check your line. This technician should come first with a laptop and check the speed in which you receive the test file from bezeq. after that if there are failures or disconnections he should go over the line and replace faulty or low quality cables. If this doesn't help, he should replace your line access at your local switch board, because sometimes they become faulty and lower your speed, and also (although highly unlikely) catch a lightning. if that still doesn't help, an expert with a special device to check adsl lines should come over, and I am talking about a laptop size device with an lcd display so don't let them fool you because many of the bezeq technician don't know how to use it so they ignore its existence.
anyway, for me it took 3 time for the technician to replace faulty cables and improve the line quality for the disconnections to stop. So, we changed one server back to the new IP. It's not helping. After complaining also about disconnections, the Actcom guy basically said, "we cannot disconnect you, it's a bezeq problem". He suggested that maybe it was the modem; he knows that the orkit modems have problems, and maybe I should request that bezeq change my modem to an Alcatel modem. So, my questions. Does this sound sensible? Also, will this affect the MTU problem? My understanding is that the MTU problem is to do with a bug in the orkit modems. -Cedar please cc replies to me.
