no - I don't really have any reason to suspect hardware (but, of course, I have
no reason to rule that out either).

This is a standard Pentium III   500 desktop system. It's the only Linux
machine on the network. There are two Win98 machines on the network (my kid's
and my wifes's machines). The USB ports are occupied by an Epson 670 printer and
a Mustek 1200UB scanner which are always connected.

I haven't seen any connection between turning on one of the Win98 machines and
the Linux box waking up. In any case, my wife and kids don't even know how to
access the network from their machines.
