I don't lnpw much about APM (so don't bother CC-ing me replies to this :-)
), but if you suspect some strange hardware problem you probably should
give more hardware information.

Is this a laptop? What brand? What model? What hardware is connected
through USB? [is that relevant?] Is it always connected to the network?

>From the little I do know (probably just a shot in the dark): I do recall
an option of "wake on LAN in the bios settings of my computer.
