+ Could you please specify what exact model of NetGear bridge you use.
+ Did you connect two Linux-boxes?
+ Was the bridge connected to one PC via NIC - 
  then how was the other PC connected to a phone line -  
  via USB? - via NIC with phone-jack interface?
