Ever since upgrading from Mandrake 7.2 to 8.0, I've had occaisional problems
with Power Saving. This is an **always-on** machine, but I have it set to go
into suspend when not in use. Sometimes I find my screen on and displaying
**garbage** for no apparent reason. At first, I thought there might be some
CRON job running and causing this, but I couldn't find a set time of day that
this happens. I think I did find a log entry that applies, but I'm not sure
- and I also have no idea how to prevent this. Here's the entry I found in both
/var/log/messages and /var/log/syslog:

Jun 1 22:12:08 shlomo1 apmd[1016]: Normal Resume after 01:25:37 (-1% unknown)
AC power

In any case, there was nobody at the computer at that time, so the screen
should not have gone on. And it's not clear why it didn't go back into
suspension as it was supposed to. As I said, there was **garbage** on the
screen. **Playing** with the mouse caused the garbage to disppear and a few
minutes later, the screen blanked as it was supposed to.

I looked at the man page for **apmd** but didn't find anything helpful.
A Google search for **linux apmd** gave about 13000 results - I looked at the
first few but none seemed relevant.

any ideas?

TIA
