You shouldn't edit /etc/sendmail.cf manually... It is automatically generated
from /etc/mail/sendmail.mc using a set of m4 macros making it much easier
to understand the configuration file. See my previous post on what line to
comment there (or just read the comments there!) and how to recreate
/etc/sendmail.cf.
