Having been on the mailing list for some time now one thing has become
plain to me ; and that is that the manner in which some people reply to a
request for help is just downright rude. Winning friends and influencing
people?

If one does not like the e-mail in question, don't reply to it. How
arrogant is that sentence! And who replies to the ""clueless newbie
questions"" on the newbie mailing list? Some lesser individual who can
afford to waste his precious time?
Tried your "newbies mailing list" almost a year ago and found it to be a
dismal flop from an information point of view.

War?? Is this a serious Linux mailing list or just some silly student
prank? Is this how Linux "experts" behave around the world?

Why don't the people who maintain this list draw up a standardised form for
the submission of questions relating to Linux problems. It could be on
IGLU. Anyone needing help could fill it in and submit it to the list. It
would need the required research to be done to be filled in correctly, and
could be read with the minimum of "time wasted"!

Do you know what runt means? I presume you mean rant; but as the two
letters are so far apart it could not be a typo!
