some of this is not flame wars - it's exchanging opinions that are
relevant to linux, in the sense that they hepl us choose services and
method of work with our systems (and with linux distributions in
particular).

this is natural on nmailing lists. and that's why we have people like you,
to stop us eventually ;0

it might. it might also cause sme people to stay. if it'll turn into an
ugly name-calling competetion, it'll drive people away. if the language is
kept on a descent level, i think some people will actually like reading
it, cause it tells them about things that are relevant to how they use
their system - everyone here uses an internet connection, so connectivity
related discussions make sense. they all use interfaces, and have the
usual run of thoughts about using GUIS, command lines, windows
intergration vs. linux's seperation, so i think this also makes sense.
surely more interesting then reading about "problems with Matrox XYZ and
Xfree YZX" for the 20th time or so :P~~
