well, based on this discussion, my general nostalgic mood and tzafrir's
suggestion, i've set up last night a small local news server called
leafnode. it is especially suitable for small sites, with a dial up
connection (period fetching of only 'interesting' groups), installation
was a breeze, and it works quite well.
