Yes,
If you're connecting thru telnet, $REMOTEHOST has the remote host,
with ssh, you have $SSH_CLIENT that contains it in this syntex: 'IP
remoteport localport' (bash2.04,openssh2.3.0p1)
P.S. you can use 'set' to see all the variables
