| About the refresh rates, I would recommend this site:
|
| http://zaph.com/Modeline/
|
| (the domain seems dead as I write this. Tell me if it stays down/invalid, and
| I'll post the other links).
| There you'll find standard modelines for common VESA resolutions. I use this
| myself. Just FYI, there are other sites with which you can optimize your refresh
| rates even further, but this requires more playing and some knowledge.
|
| About windows installation - I highly recommend you to make a boot diskette
| before installing windows, AND, prepare the disk (fdisk/cfdisk/whatever)
| yourself. I mean preparing and formatting(? - not sure) a vfat partition. This
| is all because I once installed windows on a linux only machine (where there
| existed a few free partitions) and Windows simply repartitioned the HD (!),
| deleting my Linux machine (After lots of headache, I did manage to reconstruct
| the partition table partially and copy the data).
| I dont know about Win-ME or the like, but Windows98 (IIRC), when installed, if
| it doesn't recognize fat/vfat partitions on the HD, will repartition your HD
| without warning you, rendering your OS of choice useless.
