Well, my connection died only once, and I don't think Barak uses any
kind of idle time limiting (after all, ADSL is all-time-up
connection!). But: we have Frame Relay at work, and I monitor the
router via SNMP, and at least once a month there are short service
outages. While Frame-Relay will re-connect automatically, ADSL will
not, and I'm sure Bezeq and Barak gives better service to their
corporate customers then to their private ones. So I wanted to make
sure my connection will re-connect automatically.

Another issue:
In your HOWTO, you write that in order to drop the connection, it's
enough to down ppp0 and killall pptp. You also need to
"rm -f /var/run/pptp/10.0.0.138" or pptp will complain and won't start
next time you try to connect.
