for a VERY limited number of machines, you COULD use rsync/rdist. Not
VERY
secure, but works. I implemented it once, worked with it for two weeks
and
killed it - does not scale, propagation delay, etc.

How about GFS ;-). Does not work with WinX, but might be interesting....
