Hello,
Actually, I think Orckit people are not to blame, and my fix solves genuine
bug in pptp. "Call ID" is used in GRE encapsulation to distinguish between
two separate virtual tunnels originating from the same IP. E.g.
theoretically I can connect to two ISP at the same time with ADSL modem. Of
course nobody does that, and I think ATUR2 modem simply ignored the "Call
ID" field in GRE header. Now, ATUR3 is more picky about it (but it's not
wrong, it simply follows the protocol better), and it silently drops packets
with wrong Call ID. So I think Orckit people are not to blame here at all,
and all we need to do is the following:
1. Contact PPTP author and ask him to merge in mulix' enhancements and my
bugfix.
2. Make bezeq people aware of the fact that Linux in fact does work with
pptp now (Right now they know that it does not, and propose the modem
replacement themselves).
I understand that mulix takes care of #1, and I will talk with Bezeq on
Sunday anyway, so I can try to tell them that (I need to cancel my modem
replacement :-))
