Usually i steer away from distro flame wars like the plague, but in this
case i feel i must respond. The someone was me, i assume, and it was on
lin-club, not linux-il, but never mind that.

The reason i'm sticking with redhat 6.2, insteading of switching to 7.0 or
the almost released 7.1 is simple- gcc and kgcc. Redhat 7.0 (as you know)
wes released with gcc 2.96, a NOT official branch of the gcc tree, which
while improving c++ support, broke kernel compilations. Now, maybe having
a semi-functional compiler on the system is acceptable to you, but it's
not to me. Add to that redhat's rather unfriendly manner towards the
community on this issue (imho) and lousy history with *.0 releases, and
you know why i was looking for a 6.2 install cd.

Not to say that i think redhat is a bad distro, not at all. As a matter of
fact, unless i switch to debian or *bsd before that as my distro of
choice, once redhat 7.2 is out i will probably install it. especially if
it ships with gcc 3.0, which should be out by then.
