Once, when I was younger and more idealistic, I seduced an
Israeli computer supplier to import Alpha motherboards and
build Alpha systems.

The machines in question were supposed to run Linux and, in
fact, did run it. They operated in the Hebrew University.

There was had no end of grief with the machines, because their
users lacked a competent system manager and, since one of
the machines had a faulty NIC and was unstable, the attempt
in general to induce crunching people in the HU to use Alpha
with Linux failed.

However, the computer supplier is still able (as of a conversation
last week) to cart in Alpha motherboards.

If you wish for the name and phone, e-mail me directly.
