buy STP or UTP quality cable. you can find those on electronics stores
(Kashayof in Kind gorge st. surely has those, but on almost every computers
, electornics and even hardware store you can find these cables).
it's a cable with 8 wire, 4 pairs. each pair twisted around itself, the STP
has just another metallic layer, good for long distance, and to avoid
crosstalk.
make all the cables from all the rooms come into one place, there you will
place the hub. a simple 8 ports hub shouldn't cost more than 50$.
you also need RJ45 end points and connector. both can be found in the same
places as the cables. for the connectors, you need the thiggie that presses
the RJ45 connectors. it's costs about 100 NIS, so don't buy it. the easiest
way to avoid buying this is to put the end points really near (less than 1.5
metre) and buy the cables ready. if you really want to press your own cables
i can loan this kind of tool.
there is a NETWORKING-HOWTO i think, and maybe even ETHERNET-HOTWO.. look at
arstechnica.com, i think there is a guide there on this thing exactly.
