well, if I knew how to do that (start samba manually etc..) I wouldn't be
asking for help, would I ?
people address mailing lists when they need help, and giving them answers
like you just did is not doing any
good for no one...
how about being a bit more specific ? like, start with telling me what's the
name of that script ? ;)

so, all you need to do is run samba manualy (look at the script that
starts samba and see what it tries to do), and then read the messages you
get. enable logging and read log files. do _something_ more usefull then
saying "i try to run it and it does not work".

read log files and try to debug scripts...
