Are you absoultly sure that the IDE port that doesn't work is not an
UltraDMA66 or some such that is not supported in the standart kernel and
common ditros (but support is available)?
For example my own new machine has one "regular" IDE port and one
UltraDMA66 IDE port. If I try to use a device which is connected to the
ltraDMA port without adding the support (like in a vanilla RH6.2
install) the kernel can't find the device.
