the way I solved it:
I read a little at /usr/src/linux/Docomentation/ide.txt
I found the IDE interface by 'cat /proc/pci'
the solution was to give lilo this: 'ide2=0xcc00,0xd000,18 ide3=0xd400,0xd800,18'
( the ioports and interrupts, i took from /proc/pci)
Jean-Daniel - thanks. though your solotion did not solve it, it showed
me where to start.
Thank you
regards
erez.

by adding a line like this in your lilo.conf and then commit the change
with the "lilo" command :add this in a test section, not as a global parameter so that you can go
back to another section that doesn't contain this probing if it doesn't
work :append="ide2=0,0 ide3=0,0"
this line force the probing of two more ide controllers.
youd better get used to lilo before playing with this.
