I have reason to believe that maybe my swap partition is not being used:

but 'top' shows:

CPU states: 21.3% user, 78.6% system, 0.0% nice, 0.0% idle
Mem: 127860K av, 121508K used, 6352K free, 56508K shrd, 21256K
buff
Swap: 0K av, 0K used, 0K free 41000K
