Your best bet may be to get a CD - these days the standard installation 
route for RedHat is on a bootable CD.

Kind of hard to say what your problems are without more info, but here is 
my guess:

guess 1: Did you it ask where the stuff you downloaded is?
guess 2: Your graphics card was not identified, XWindows could not run 
automatically.

guess 3: your BIOS is doing some weird tanslation on your hard disk tables 
since it doesn't really support the large hard disk.

Is this a relatively old computer?
