it's not a dir, it's the X font server. 
/etc/rc.d/init.d/xfs restart

go bash your head in the wall and reinstall the xfs RPM, it's shorter.

you should never, EVER need to reinstall Linux for any reason other
than:

a. disk hardware failure
b. complete patchwork dragging for 3 years or more makes the system
instable and unable to compile stuff.

no other case warrents a reinstall. LINUX IS NOT CRIMO$OFT!
