Hey Pavel,

To make your TV card (hopefully) work, there are two wo things
you should do:

1) Make sure your /etc/conf.modules (or modules.conf, whatever
you prefer) also contains:

options tuner type=5
pre-install bttv /sbin/modprobe -k tuner

Without it, xawtv could actually poll the image from the TV
(or make the TV card overly the screen), but tunning won't
work so all you'll see is snow.

For my Avermedia bt448-based card, the tuner type is 5.
Your type might vary. Read Documentation/video4linux/bttv/INSTALL
from the kernel's source for tuner numbers. Knowing what manuficator
is written on that big box on the TV card might help.

2) Right-click xawtv's window, and select the frequency
table. "europe-west" seems to work for me with Arutzey Zahav.
