Well, You can do something simple:

There are kits you can buy which are Parallel->IDE or Parallel->SCSI -
and then you connect to them your IDE or SCSI devices...

Some CD-R's like HP Parallel CDR's (external) are just like this: An IDE
drive + Parallel PCB with Shuttle Chipset which is supported under
Linux..
