there's also ext3 in the works and a fifth one if memory serves (it

is there a need for a standard? as long as they all have a nice
abstraction and plug into the VFS of Linux 2.4 nicely I see no reason
for them to standardize nor a chance of it happening, seeing that it
comes from rivals such as SGI and IBM.

why worse? OS/2 is a great OS. sadly IBM doesn't want to continue or

how is that connected? CXFS does wonders JFS doesn't. and I haven't seen
benchmarks of either on linux yet.

go to the SGI lecture, and you may be persuaded otherwise...

and again, if they don't (and they won't) it's still good. it's great to
have a choice, it's devine to have a choice between different
possibilities that are each SO good.

if you want to have the "right" solution dictated to you by some company
stadard, then stick to your beloved IBM. they encourage you to
"choose" IBM every time. Linux may not be for you.
