If I may add my 2 agorot:

The website is a service to the linux *users* community, not to the linux
software vendors. Of course, the vendors also benefit from a link in the
website, but the main goal in the website is to help the Linux users who look
for information, software, tools and whatnot.

As such, the website should give the information to the user, and let him/her
decide whether software is something he or she wants to spend money on.

Links are not banner ads, for crying out loud. Nobody is trying to *lure*
people into buying products, preferring one product over the other. It's just
a way to inform people that the products exist.
