Hi,
Have you configured applications to recognise the wheel?
See http://www.inria.fr/koala/colas/mouse-wheel-scroll/
Also: if you suffer from erratic mouse behaviour, try upgrading gpm to
1.19. Older version seem to go crazy after ~10 minutes of mouse inactivity
(anyone else encountered this? Using the same device in a serial port
worked fine, but in PS/2 port - kaboom. gpm used to shout "Error in
protocol" once in a while).
Configuration: Mandrake 7.0, Xfree-mach64 3.3.6, gpm 1.17, Logitech
cordless mouse-keyboard combo. gpm yells, cursor goes to upper right
corner and starts sending random clicks. Then, it dies. gpm -k; gpm -t
imps2, wait a coupleof minutes, all well (until the next inactivity
pause).
No problems detected with gpm 1.19. _Yet_.
