StarOffice needs font metrics to work with fonts,
since X protocol doesn't provide enough info about
the font to do precise layouting.
StarOffice can install and generate font metrics for
Type1 fonts (somehow with Ghostscript) via it's setup
tools, but not for TTF fonts.
Trying finding a TTF2PS utility, convert to Type1 fonts
and then generate the font metrics.
(afterwards, still try using the TrueType ones - they'll
be higher quality.)
