Just wanted to remind people that often when you want *nothing*,
really really nothing to run in the background, you can booth with the
"init=/bin/sh" parameter and then it will run the shell instead of
init. You'll have to "mount -o remount,rw /" if you want to write any
files, and don't forget to remount it back to "ro" before you hit
Ctrl-Alt-Del since it will reboot immediately, there's no init,
remember.
