Hi,
I got here a Sun Ultra 60 and I need to configure it to the network. the
channel #solaris is not that helpful as #linux (in Linux cases) - and I've
been fed up with RTFM (which I did read but didn't find what I need)
Here is the situation:
I have this machine, and I give it an IP: 192.168.141.5 (no, thats only
example - not the real one)
I set up all the other stuff (gateway, hostname.hme0, defaultroute, everything)
Now here is my problem: If I setup the /etc/nsswitch.conf file - the hosts
parameters to DNS - then the boot part of the network failes, and the card
doesn't even get an IP. if I set the hosts to FILES - then it boots ok, but
I cannot do anything from this machine (no ftp, telnet, web, nothing)..
In Linux, I know I can set up something like files, hosts, dns - or any
sort of mix of them. If I do this trick on Solaris - it doesn't work. It's
either DNS or files, not both of them.
OS: Solaris 7 (SunOS 5.7)
Any help?? (and something off, off-topic - Minix services in Israel SUCKS
HARD!)
Thanks
Hetz
